Educational Qualification

  • Minimum 10+2 class passed from a recognized board inany stream with English and a minimum aggregate of 40% marks for General candidates (5% relaxation for SC/ST/O.B.C./M.O.B.C/PWD candidates. preference will be given to candidates passed 10+2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Physical Fitness

  • Candidates must be physically fit and will be finally selected foradmission only after they are declared fit by the OIL medical board.


The eligible candidates will have to appear a written test. The pass mark in thewritten test is 45 percent for General candidates and 40 percent forSC/ST/O.B.C./M.O.B.C/PWD candidates. The entrance test will comprise of 100 multiplechoice questions (MCQ) and shall be set from the course of class X covering(a) General knowledge, General awareness, Popular Science- 25 marks (b) General English- 25marks (c) General Mathematics- 25 (d) General Science-25.

The duration of the test will be 02.00 hours and total marks will be 100.The questions will be in English language. The candidates who qualify in the written test will be consideredfor selection on provisional basis based on merit in the written test. Provisionally selectedcandidates will have to appear before a Board for original document verification andmedical examination. If two or more candidates securing the same marks in the entrance examination, the merit list of such candidates shall be determined in accordance with internal policyasmentioned below:

  1. The candidates will be called for medical examination and admission on the basisof marks obtained in the entrance examination for admission in GNM Course.
  2. The candidates will be examined by a medical board/officer of OIL Hospital -Duliajan for assessing the medical fitness for pursuing the Course. If the candidateis found medically fit then only the candidate will be considered for admission inthe course.
  3. In case two or more candidates attains equal marks in the entrance test conductedfor GNM admission, then candidates scoring higher marks in Science Section inthe Entrance test will get the higher rank.
  4. In case the score in the Science Section and the total score of two candidates aresame, then 10+2 percentage in aggregate will be considered and candidateattaining higher percentage in 10+2 will get the higher rank.
  5. In case the total marks in Entrance test, Science section marks in Entrance test
    and 10+2 percentage are same, then the candidate with Science stream will begiven preference.
  6. In case two or more candidates from science stream obtaining similar marks inEntrance test, Science section and aggregate percentage in 10+2 are same then thecandidate scoring higher marks in Biology in 10+2 examination will get thehigher rank.
  7. In case two or more candidates secure equal scores in all the above aspects, thencandidate securing higher aggregate score in class -X will be given higher rank.
  8. In case two or more candidates fulfilling all the above mentioned criteria, thecandidate senior in age (as per DOB) will be given preference

Selected candidates for admission will be required to undergo one year compulsory post qualification practical training following completion of GNM Course in the companymanaged health and medical units. They must complete their full training period(including one year compulsory post qualified certificate training); otherwise the cost incurred on them during the course has to be refunded if they discontinue theircourse/training of their own.


  • Stipend will be paid as per norms of the School of Nursing.

Other facilities

Students will be provided with uniform and medical benefits asavailable in OIL Hospital during the course and their study period. Hostel accommodationwill be provided to students. During one year compulsory post qualified certificatetraining hostel accommodation will be provided as per the availability.

No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for appearing in the written test and forattending the document verification and medical examination board.The authority reserves the right to cancel the entire process of selection at its discretionwithout assigning any reason thereof.Candidates once admitted in the GNM course will not be permitted to pursue or continueany other course of studies simultaneously and will automatically forfeit the GNM seat ifthey do so. Candidates need to write their address correctly and in case any discrepancy arisesbetween their declaration of address in the application forms of the candidates and theirPermanent Resident certificate then the address mentioned in their respective PRCs(uploaded) will be considered final.
