The upper age limit will be relaxed for reserved categories as per rules.
The applicants must submit their applications in Standard Form of application published in the Assam Gazette Part-IX with self attested photocopies of testimonials regarding Age and Educational Qualification etc.
Testimonials in original shall have to be produced before the Interview Board at the time of interview.
Candidates shall provide 3 copies of recent passport size photograph, 1 copy of which shall have to be pasted on the space provided in the Standard Form of application. The candidates shall have to write their names on the reverse side of the other 2 copies of the photographs.

Applications from intending eligible candidates of the establishment of Chief Judicial Magistrates of the State of Assam are hereby invited for filing up the vacant post of Head Assistant in the establishment of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sivasagar, in the usual Scale of Pay Band of Rs. 22000 – 97000 + Grade Pay Rs. 10300/- per month plus other allowances as admissible under Rules.
The candidates must possess at least 10 years of experience in the service as Upper Division Assistant, as on 31.08.2022, or serving as Supervisory Assistant in any Chief Judicial Magistrates Establishment (Ministerial). The candidates shall have to appear before the recruitment board for interview on their own expenses as and when called for.
The intending candidates shall submit their applications in Standard Form as published in the Assam Gazette in Part-IX with 3(three) copies of self attested recent coloured passport size photographs through proper channel by enclosing experience certificate issued by the competent authority / respective Chief Judicial Magistrate along with other testimonials including copy of Service Book and copies of ACR of last 3 (three) years.
The eligibility and criteria for selection shall be on the basis of provision of Rule 6(1) of the Assam Chief Judicial Magistrate Establishment (Ministerial) Service Rule, 1987.

About CJM Sivsagar
Sivasagar Judiciary System consists of two major establishments.
- District & Sessions Judge Establishment
- Chief Judicial Magistrate Establishment
The highest court in Sivasagar Judiciary is that of the District and Sessions Judge. This is the principal court of civil jurisdiction. This is also a court of Sessions. Sessions-triable cases are tried by the Sessions Court. It has the power to impose any sentence including capital punishment.Each of the establishments are further categorized into subordinate courts. These subordinate courts are administered by individual judges.
In addition Sivasagar Judiciary has the following special divisions
- District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) : Constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 to provide free Legal Services to the weaker sections of the society and to organize Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes.
- Motor Accident Claims tribunal(MACT) : An additional court which was constituted to provide compensation to the victims or family members of the victims of accident by motor vehicles.
- DISTRICT CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL COMMISSION, Sivasagar or consumer court : This is a special purpose court constituted to deal with cases regarding consumer disputes and grievances.
Till inception of this District Judiciary at Sivasagar on 16th April, 1985, the erstwhile District Judiciary of Sivasagar District, Head- quarter at Jorhat, was consisted with three Sub-divisional Judicial setup, such as Sivasagar, Jorhat & Golaghat Sub-divisions, which are now independent District Judicial Head quarters. As such, till 16-04-1985 the present Sivasagar District Judiciary was a Sub-divisional Judicial Head-quarter.
It consisted with only Sivasagar Judicial Sub-division, controlled by UAD(Upper Assam District) Judiciary, Head quarter at Jorhat. After the declaration of a separate Civil District of Sivasagar in the year 1984, the District Judiciary was set up in the year 1985, while the District Judge of erstwhile amalgamated Sivasagar District was Late Purna Ch. Saikia the then District Judge of Sivasagar Headquarter at Jorhat, who took out all the initiatives to inaugurate the District Judiciary from Jorhat and the first District & Sessions Judge at Sivasagar was Sri G.S. Basumatari, which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Justice Sri K.Lahiri on 16th day of April,1985.
The C.J.M. court was opened at Sivasagar on 1983. The court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Charaideo, Sonari was established on 1984. The Civil Judge & Asstt. Sessions Judge, Sivasagar was opened in the year, 1987. The Addl. District & Sessions Judge (F.T.C) was functioning from the year 2001.
The circuit court of the Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Charaideo, Sonari was established on the 15th day of December, 2003.The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court(M), Nazira was functioning 24th July, 2014.As per order of the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court, the new Addl. District and Sessions Judge, Charaideo, Sonari is functioning on the date of 09-02-2018. On the date of 27-02-2021, Charaideo judicial courts separated from Sivasagar district. There are twelve Judicial Courts now in Sivasagar District and are functioning very smoothly.
